Eight ongoing CJEU profiles

EPSO/AD/424/25 recruits Czech, Danish, Estonian, Finnish, French, Italian, Latvian and Swedish lawyer-linguists at AD7. The combined reserve target is 155. EPSO continues to list the competition in progress.

Language combinations are profile-specific

Six profiles use French as L2 and select L3 from English, German, Italian, Polish or Spanish. The Italian profile uses French L2 and its own seven-language L3 list. The French profile selects L2 from seven named languages and L3 from any distinct official EU language. L1 requires C2; L2 and L3 require at least C1 reading.

No field MCQ

The notice contains no EU-law or specialist-knowledge MCQ. Reasoning is a 20/40 combined gateway. Professional ranking comes from two tasks:

  • Legal translation from L2 into L1: 90 minutes, 0-80, pass 40/80, no dictionary or resources.
  • Review of an L1 machine translation against L3: 90 minutes, 0-80, pass 40/80.

EPSO scores the review only after a translation pass. Final ranking uses the combined professional score out of 160. Reasoning points are not added.

What the work requires

CJEU lawyer-linguists translate judgments, orders, Advocates General's opinions and pleadings, review translations and contribute legal analysis with Registries and Court departments. Procedural voice, legal effect, autonomous EU terminology and citations matter more than stylistic preference.

Full EPSOHQ package

The new EPSO/AD/424/25 database includes 10 source-backed modules, exact language matrices, a no-resource translation method, machine-output error taxonomy, two browser-local 90-minute workbenches and a 160-point gate calculator.

Automated self-scoring would be misleading. Qualified native L1 legal-linguist review is required for professional feedback.
