  • Describe what operational data does and does not show.
02
Data note

A rise that needs context

A regional report records 240 document alerts in June, compared with 180 in May. Airport checks account for most of the increase. The number of checks also rose after two additional teams began work, so the higher total does not automatically prove that document fraud became more common.

The analyst recommends comparing the alert rate per thousand checks and reviewing the types of alerts. This turns a simple count into a more useful operational picture and reduces the risk of presenting correlation as a cause.
